School Dinners
St George’s C of E Primary School offers a cooked meal service. Food is prepared off-site by Caterlink and includes a main meal with vegetarian and jacket potato options also available. Under the new government initiative, all children in reception, year 1, and year 2 are entitled to a free dinner. For older children, lunches currently cost £2.53 per day.
Lunches can be booked weekly or termly and paid for in advance. The cut off date for books is the Wednesday the week prior to the start of meal provisions. Parents providing their child’s own packed lunch are encouraged to send a healthy and balanced packed lunch containing no fizzy drinks, sweets, or chocolate. Parents who receive income support are eligible for free school meals. Please contact the office for further details.
St George's is also proud to be a nut free school.

Snacks
In an effort to provide the necessary five daily portions of fruit and vegetables, we encourage all children to have a snack of pure fruit (dried or fresh) or raw vegetables during morning break. The school is also part of the fruit and vegetable scheme, and as such a daily piece of fruit is available for infants at break time free of charge.
Milk is available free to children under the age of five and at a cost of around 20p for all other children. Parents can register online at Cool Milk for Schools.
All children are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to school (in a sports-top bottle to prevent spillages) which they should keep in their class to ensure regular hydration and therefore high concentration levels. Children can top up their bottle during break and lunch times.
Parents sometimes want to celebrate a special occasion (a birthday for example) by sending in sweets and cakes. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to be able to give these out ourselves and would ask that, if they so wish, parents give them out themselves on the playground as the children come out at the end of the day (checking with each child’s parents first in case of allergies/intolerances etc).
